Job Description - Student Photographer's Assistant for Pamira Bezmen Photography

Summary:

Pamira Bezmen Photography is looking for flex-time assistants to aide in newborn, maternity, baby, and family portrait sessions, in studio and on location.

Applicants should have high level of professionalism, be punctual, be interested in working with newborn babies and/or young children, have a desire to learn from hands-on experience while taking ownership for assisting photographer to create high quality images. 

Tasks:

Typical tasks may include helping carry, maintain, manage camera and lighting equipment, lenses, props, accessories, setting up and taking down sets/backdrops, making props, client management, creative solutions for challenges that may occur during any photo session.

Experience:

• A basic understanding of photography and lighting is helpful.
• Past experience in studio and natural light photography or assistance is a plus.
• Experience dealing with or handling babies and children is helpful.
• It is important that the Applicant is interested in working with/around young babies, pregnant women and families.
• Photographer is wiling and able to teach and train on all tasks asked of the Assistant.  Please be up-front about your level of knowledge and experience at the time of the interview.

Must haves:

• Personal hygiene, honesty and a kind, friendly personality are important in handling babies and dealing with clients. 
• I have a zero-tolerance policy for any type of substance abuse, dishonesty, unethical or illegal habits/behaviors/activities during and outside of work hours.
• Applicants must be non-smokers.
• Applicant must be reliable, hard-working, presentable, and willing to learn and help.
• Applicant must be able to come to the sessions with her/his own means of transportation or public transport.
• Applicants will be justly compensated and should be able to provide appropriate and necessary information for tax purposes.
• Applicants must be willing to agree to a background check or drug test if requested.
   

Compensation:

• The compensation is $10 per hour for scheduled client sessions.
• Assistant will be compensated based on total number of hours of a paid session he/she assists or for the duration of scheduled photography events that may consist of back-to-back sessions.
• Usually a portrait session runs 1-3 hours depending on age of baby, and home-studio versus on location.

Total time commitment:

• Total number of hours needed per week may change based on actual number of sessions we shoot together.
• We will start with a 1-3 hour session and gauge how well we work together.
• I am willing to spend extra time with the Student Assistant to share my knowledge, review photography skills, exchange creative ideas, provide training and critique.  This extra time will not be paid for, for the time being, but I will be available as a resource to help in the growth of the Students who work with me.
• I am in the midst of growing my client base, and I will be needing more help over time. I would love it if I were coupled with some students who will join the journey with me.
