"Two Mommies & Two Sons"
by New Jersey Family Photographer Pamira Bezmen Photography

Motherhood is wonderful. Powerful. Smart. Strong. Intuitive. Loving. Caring. Gentle. Emotional. Protective. Educational. Supportive. Larger than life.
It is the one instinct that comes before all other personal, physical and emotional needs. A mother will care for her baby before she will take care of anything else in the world.
And it's a 24/7 job. Despite its beauties, it is all consuming and demanding. But a child does his best in his mama's care.
When the days get too short and my to do list gets too long and I realize how I need more of me, I simply wish that: to have two of me :)
Well, it may be a dream in my case, but these two wonderful boys have two loving moms. Wrapped in love, care, and kindness, they are two lucky boys, and it was my absolute pleasure photographing them.
I wish that these images will forever remind them of the happiness and love of their childhood, and bring back warm memories of being cuddled in their sweet mamas' arms, where love is endless...

"My Little Heart"
Bedtime Love to Melt My Heart | New Jersey Child Photographer Pamira Bezmen

One of the absolute best things about being a mother is basking in my child's endless love for me while being the source of endless love for her.
I knew the moment I held her in my arms 3 years ago that I was created for this job: Motherhood. I did not have to read a book, nor did I line up behind experts with degrees to teach me about parenting - I just followed my heart. I did absolutely everything from my heart and the depths of my stomach, where all the mystical knowledge resides. Because deep down inside of me, I felt an unshakeable sense of strength and power. All the answers were there. I just knew.
And She, all along, taught me exactly how to mother her. After all, she came to me, to no one but me, for a reason, and a very good one.
3 years later, I stand strong about my parenting choices. Absolutely, positively, parenting from the heart has been invaluable for not only making a happy and loving a child, but also transforming me into a better human being.

Last night, in bed, after our bed time routine, my daughter Shaya asked me to call her like this: "My Little Heart".
She said:
"Mommy, call me like this: My little heaaaart, my little heaaaart, where are youuuu, where are youuuuu, where aaaaaare youuuuuu????"
I obliged as she requested, and I began calling to her, as if I didn't know where she was:
"My little heaaaart, my little heaaaart, where are youuuu, where are youuuuu, where aaaaaare youuuuuu????"
After a few calls, she requested that I sang it to her.
I made up my own melody for this little chant, and the more I sang it, the more meaning filled into it.
She was "My Little Heart", obviously, the name so appropriately selected by herself, in this imaginary scenario where I did not know where she was, and I longed to find her, calling her name, again and again, and singing with love, hope, and longing...
All along, she lay in my arms, listening to my soft voice, enjoying the melody, but also the love and care in it, knowing that she was my little heart, and comforted by the fact that she was not lost or far away, but right there, in her mom's safe embrace.
I was tired, and yes, I would have preferred to be asleep by then, but the more I sang, the more I realized what this meant for her. I kept on going, on and on and on... Varying the melody and the sequence of the words, adding more softness, love and care as minutes passed by.
Slowly I reduced the speed of the song and brought the chanting to an end.
She waited for a moment and then turned her face to mine, and held my cheeks in her palms, focusing to see me in the dark. Then she said to me:
"That was beautiful, My Mommy Heart".
This is the magic of motherhood. I am so blessed and deeply thankful that I am Her Mommy Heart, mother of My Little Heart. I would not change our sleepless nights to anything in the whole wide world. After all, how many short years of sleepless nights do we get with our Little Hearts?

A magical time to preserve | Maternity Portraits by New Jersey family photographer Pamira Bezmen Photography

Pregnancy is a time of magic, love, and getting in touch with your inner most spiritual connection with your body, baby, ancestors, and creators.
You are just beginning the journey, and you have already arrived at the same time. I am greatly honored, touched, and overjoyed when I photograph an expecting mother. Contrary to how some women feel, I have not ever met a pregnant woman who was not pure light and gorgeousness. It's surely a time to cherish, photograph, elevate, document, and preserve. For oneself and for one's baby. Your baby will otherwise never get to see how you looked when you were carrying him or her inside, and how beautiful, strong and elegant you were.
Ashli is a beautiful mother, so wise and connected beyond her years, fully embracing what Mother Nature might have in store for her. She is a Mediterranean beauty, and I wanted to capture her in this light. In one with nature, calm and collected, gently awaiting her son with excitement and acceptance. I am so in love with this session that I am barely containing myself from posting a hundred images. But I will try to pace myself.
Thank you, Ashli, for allowing me to be a witness to this precious time. You are a beautiful person, and I pray that you will get to hold your precious son in your arms in great health and with much happiness.

A goddess is born with each pregnancy... As we humbly give our bodies to our babies and the will of the divine, we become more than we ever thought we were.
I styled our session in nature, wrapping this beautiful mother in long silks and chiffon, to enhance this feeling. Her natural beauty could not fit the scenery any better. And Pregnancy could not look any more beautiful on a woman!

And we had to have some fun as well. I brought some organic apples to the park. I thought it would be fun to portray her as Eve, obviously having eaten from the tree of knowledge, but it my version of the story she has not fallen. To the contrary, she is still in Heaven and proud, having a curious conversation with her apple ;-)

If you bought a Porsche, would you keep it in the garage forever never to see the light of day? Or would you be jumping out of bed each morning with excitement to drive it, anywhere, just to feel the exhilaration?
I'm gonna say the latter!

When we dream about a beautiful luxury item, save up for it, and then finally get it, we want to enjoy it. Right? At least that's what would make sense.
We wouldn't say "Gas is expensive, let me just walk to work today" or "I don't know where I put the keys, I'll take the bus instead". We go find those keys and fill up the tank and off we go on our jolly journey.
But did you know that many people who invest in professional photography services end up keeping their images on their computers?
Now, to me that is the same thing as never driving your Porsche.
"Why?" you ask. Because they are overwhelmed. There are many nice images and they don't know which one goes where and what size, framed or canvas, oh so many options, and then should they be metallic or glossy, or fine art, and then oh well, they can do it next week. And next week sometimes takes months to come.
To make the most of your investment, you've got to get those amazing professional prints. Not to spend more money, but to actually get the full value of the money that you have already invested. Because there is a whole journey ahead of your family, full of fresh air, excitement, happy memories, just by pressing that foot on the accelerator - I mean putting those beautiful images on your walls.
Next year, if you have images you love even more, you can always move these to another spot. This is a low risk decision, really.

I know, it can be overwhelming - you probably like many pictures from your session, and there are many paper types, print options, and wall display ideas. But that's why I'm here. I can help you make the right choice that will fit within your budget and your style.

I want you to be completely satisfied with your photography investment, so I have created cutting edge visual aids and developed a fully customizable design service that I named "LOVE Your Walls". This is to take the guess work out of ordering. What size, what type, which wall in the house? How will your favorite image look framed or as a canvas wrap, and how will each size look on your walls? This is a complimentary service for all my clients. Use it and please let me help you.
Because I want you to look at your family's beautiful images and be happy every day. I want your children to grow up seeing themselves on the walls and in the heirloom albums. I want to be the photographer that delivered a great value for your family, not just now but for years to come.
If your children don't grow up seeing these images, it's the same as those images not existing at all.
I say, get that Porsche out. Give it a run. Hear the engine roar. Enjoy! ... and start to Love Your Walls...

Give me a buzz or send me an e-mail and let's get started. Half an hour or an hour of your time in my studio or on the phone can help you get the prints that will put a smile on your face every day for the next 30 years and more. Isn't that so worth it!

Sharing Magic with your Kids via Play | Pamira Bezmen New Jersey Child Photographer
Children have a wonderful world of imagination. NJ child photographer Pamira Bezmen explores using photography to capture the magic of play time.
Children have a rich and wonderful world of imagination. When playing, they don't even need toys. A napkin may double as a baby blanket or an imaginary cone of ice cream can be just as wonderful as the real thing.
Movies are not just movies to them, but enchanted worlds that they travel into, and then bring with them back into our lives.
Anyone with kids, especially daughters, has a good chance of having seen the movie "Frozen" more than a couple of times by now, and if your home is anything like ours, very off-key chants of "Let it gooooooo, let it gooooooo..." can be heard at odd hours of the day and night. -haha, did I get you singing the song in your head for the next 3 hours??? ::)))) sooorr-ryyyyy!!!
I got the idea to recreate this scene from my daughter. The scene of Queen Elza climbing the mountain singing "Let it Go" in the movie. Snow and wind blowing, her cape flying in the wind, and she full of hope, light, and a sense of confidence, maybe for the first time ever in her life since the accident.
My daughter was walking around the house with a blanket wrapped around her shoulders, singing "Let it goooooo...." when I asked her:
"Would you like to do a photo shoot like that? Do you want to be the Ice Princess?"
She agreed to do a photo shoot as Ice Princess. She fell asleep shortly after posing for me (well, more like she not exactly posing but me rolling all over the floor in my studio to catch her in the correct pose while she kept turning off the lights and running off the studio). I dragged my fiancee to be the wind-man to create the cape flying in the wind effect. (he was not doing it exactly like I imagined, either, but as a child photographer, I have really learned to let go of my ego and roll with the circumstances because many times my job is to capture the best of my little clients, in whatever pose they choose to give me)
In the process, Shaya had great fun, pretending she was Elza, singing at the top of her lungs, and running around with her scarf - u-hum - cape, flying in the winds of my studio...
I worked on editing this image while she was taking her afternoon nap.
When she woke up, I told her I had a surprise for her. And Voila! Here she was, on my screen, as Ice Princess, snow, wind, cape, and all, in the scene she had been imagining for weeks while she sang "Let it go".
You should have seen the smile on her face! :) I wish I had a photo of that smile, too! :)
We do lots of photo shoots with my baby girl, and I set the theme for most of them, but as she gets older [read: more determined and bossier], I am bringing more of her ideas and imagination into the set-ups. It helps create a wonderful bonding project together, and yields a priceless memento to keep afterwards.
You don't have to be a professional photographer to do this at your own home. Just keep your eyes and your imagination open. Let your children lead the way, into their own worlds, and if you can, participate with your own creative ideas (if they let you) LOL.
Sometimes they are just as happy to lead the way, and you just get to follow their instructions, and that is great, too.
Through imaginative play, our children get to build confidence and leadership, release their stress, and establish a wide territory of possibilities. By participating and letting them lead the way, you help build love, trust, and joy into your relationship, and you get to show them that you respect them enough to play in their territory. (Shaya chose the dress and what color scarf fto wear for the "Let it go" portrait above)
When the play is over, they are more likely to follow your lead and respect you in the same way, through the loving and gentle skills they learned from you. And you get to learn so much from your our child (and about yourself) in the process. After all, I think they are our biggest teachers in life.
When you do one of these games, snap a few pics if you can, but if not, just be in the moment and enjoy it. Let time stop and don't rush onto other things. With each new year, they will have more and more friends, and other things to do with other people, and as long as I have my preferred friendship status with my baby, I intend to maximize my play time with her!
I wish the same upon all you mamas and papas out there! Happy playing!

Today is my beloved mother Nermin Bezmen's birthday.
She is one amazing woman, a truly wonderful mom, and a gorgeous human being, inside and out. She has been a soft and gentle influence in our lives since childhood and was strong and confident enough to assume the quiet role.
She has proven her genius over and over again via her mothering, partnering, and writing. And the greatest of all is that she is all human: stubborn, vulnerable, and sometimes goofy :)
She is the reason I went into natural childbirth with such confidence and with no drugs at all, eyes wide open: I wanted to be conscious, awake and "there" when welcoming my baby into this world. I wanted to be an active participant in her journey, helping her while she was transitioning from the warm darkness of my womb into the daylight and oxygen. I wanted her to grow up, like I did, hearing stories about how magically beautiful it was becoming her mother. I wanted her story to be around not pain, fear, doctors and drugs, but around love, womanhood, letting go, and confident vulnerability.
As women, we draw our strengths from our mothers. We learn what to become and what not to become from our mothers. We learn our sense of community, femininity, ability, and sacrifice from our mothers. We, in the end, become our mothers.
I am truly blessed that she is my mother and that my 3 year old baby girl has the privilege of knowing her, loving her, being loved by her and calling her "my friend" :)
Annecim, seni tum kalbimle seviyorum, iyi ki varsin. Shaya'm seni taniyabildigi ve senin "arkadasin" olabildigi icin cok cok cok mutluyum! :)
My mom's best selling novels have been translated into numerous languages, and the TV show "Kurt Seyit & Shura" based on her same-named novel is currently a hit in Turkey, expected to do just as well in neighboring countries where it's scheduled to start viewing on major TV channels. I look forward to the day her novels will be on the US market as well, so the readers of this great country can also travel into the magical world she has created between the covers of her books and appreciate what a wonderful mom I've got! :)
Happy Birthday Mama! I Love you from the bottom of my heart!

Brother & Sister Portraits by Pamira Bezmen
New Jersey Family Photographer

This sessions was a gift for Su Duru (3) and Balkan (1) by a dear friend of their Mommy & Daddy.
In my opinion it is one of the best gifts you could give a family.
These two darlings will grow up in no time, and the days they are rolling and polling and snuggling in their diapers will be way gone.
I hope that my images will bring back these happy memories to them again and again for many, many years to come.
I believe that young life's memories need to be reinforced in order not to be forgotten.
Most of my youngest memories come from stories coupled with childhood photos I grew up seeing.
If you are ever unsure about what to get as a gift for a family you love, I highly recommend getting them the gift of photography.
It is one gift they will never, ever grow out of, and it will keep getting more valuable over time.

Professional Portraits, by Pamira Bezmen. Cenk Aydin was named one of the most influential and powerful young global leaders in the world in 2010 by the World Economic Forum. He is a Birtish-Turkish banker, and one of the founders and managing partners of Halikarnas Financial Services & Advisory, HFSA. He is a dear friend of mine from college and now a client I am proud to have the opportunity to photograph.

I met with Cenk at his office in Bebek, Istanbul (Turkey), situated at the top of a little hill overlooking the Bosphorous. We moved from floor to floor in the office building, looking for the perfect light and setting to not only capture his best portrait, but also to reflect his genuine, elegant and smart syle.
After years of leading financial teams from New York and London, Cenk has recently moved to Istanbul, Turkey, to be close to his darling daughter and to found a financial institution that has a morally driven agenda as well as high standards for financial success.
I am hopeful that the images I have captured adequately reflect Cenk's leadership qualities, as well as his strengths as a trustworthy, moral and smart global leader who prioritizes integrity and the human element of business endeavors.

About Cenk Aydin:
Cenk Aydın, a Turkish-British banker, served as the Head of Corporate Segment for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at JPMorgan. Aydın started his career at Citigroup in 1999 with the Management Associate program in Wall Street.
He took on several leadership responsibilities, including M&A, Global Strategy and Client Coverage within the Natural Resources Sector in New York and London. Before joining JP Morgan, Aydın served Bank of America as their Chief Operating Officer for the Global Transaction Services Business in EMEA.
Aydın holds an MBA in Corporate Finance and Marketing and a BA in Economics.
He currently serves on the President's Advisory Group of the EastWest Institute.
His personal interests include globalization, conflict resolution, sustainable economic development and leadership development.

This week has been a very exciting one for me, and for baby Asil's family, as he came a bit ahead of schedule. He overjoyed us all with his wonderful appearance. He is an angel, and I am truly honored and humbled to have had the chance to witness and photograph his first 2 days on earth so far. I cannot wait to see him again in a week's time in my studio.
God bless you, little one! You remind us about the divine beauty and innocence in each and every one of us. I honor and welcome you from the bottom of my heart.

Oh yes, a lovely gesture, baby showers and gifts. But so many times you end up with things you are not so fond of, things a little too small, a little too big, or a little too much of a color you'd rather exchange.
Even when you create your own registry and end up with lovely things, most of these gifts end up in a box after only a month or two as your bundle of joy grows into the next size up.
I suggest a totally indispensable Shower Gift: gorgeous, timeless, lovely Newborn Portraits.
You and your baby will never, ever grow out of this gift. Your little angel will grow so very fast, and you will be grateful to have these pictures to stay with you for life.
I know many people shy away from Newborn Photography due to the high cost of this custom art. But creating a baby registry is a wonderful way of making it affordable.
So, it's a win-win-win all around:

Call me or e-mail me today to create your own Baby Registry.

Yoga is for Everyone - Professional Yoga Photography by Pamira Bezmen
As a photographer who is also a certified yoga instructor, it is always my pleasure photographing yoga. These images are from the shoot I did for Shannon Elliott Yoga, at Onyx Mind Body. If you are a yoga buff, I would highly recommend taking a class with Shannon. Her studio in Warren, NJ also features a hot room. Namaste!
I shot the first set of images below in their yoga studio during a class. I did a clean, light edit to keep the feeling fresh and suitable to what yoga does for the soul: it refreshes, lifts you up and lightens the heart. Opens you up and brings a sense of calm and fresh joy.

Onyx Mind Body also features a hot room, where I also shot some pictures. It is a darker, more intense room with a more challenging practice. I tried to reflect the same feeling in my images.

Hope you've enjoyed the selection.
Namaste! :)

Because time does not stop. For anyone. We are all growing or aging or moving on and along from today, in one way or another.

I was looking at this picture I took, of my darling daughter. She is wearing a hand-knit dress and a hat made by her great-grandmother (my beloved grandmother). These two things were literally the last things she was able make with her aged, trembling hands. And she did it so painstakingly, with her bones aching, her left hand not feeling anything at all. With great dedication, to leave something valuable behind for her little great-grandbaby. Something of her, from her...
That was only several months ago.
Now 90 years old and having aged very rapidly since then, my grandma is not able to make any more dresses or hats.
An extremely talented tailor and a very resourceful woman of the early 20th century, my grandma hand-made all of her family's clothes most of her life. At a time of limited resources and tiny budgets, she dressed her kids so impeccably that everyone thought she shopped the high end designer boutiques of the time. My brother and I grew up wearing jackets, hats, scarves, gloves, cardigans and slippers custom made by our grandmother. Unfortunately those days are passed. Now she spends most of her days resting, and sometimes we are not sure if she remembers exactly who we are.
I am so very thankful to my grandma for so many things. And I am so blessed that I was able to capture this image of my daughter wearing this dress and hat. Because she will grow out of them very soon and she will most likely not remember these days. But we will cherish this image for as long as we live. This will be the picture where Shaya is wearing the dress and hat her great-grandma made for her. This picture will always remind her of how much her great-grandma loved her and how she made something so special just for her.
This, to me, is the gift of photography. The ability to preserve not only a moment in time, but all the valuable things that belong to that moment. The love, the care, the family, the baby that was at that moment. Long after we are gone, these will be kept preserved in this perfect picture. My sweet girl can come back to it again and again, as a teenager, as a woman, as a mother some day, and find us all right here. In the hat, the dress, me behind the camera, her dad right there watching, all of her family loving her endlessly. Forever.
Because time flies, but a photo lives.
